Governor Ralph Northam announced yesterday that Greenswell Growers will invest more than $17 million to establish a new commercial hydroponic greenhouse operation in Goochland County. The company will create 27 new jobs in addition to internships and learning opportunities for Goochland County High School’s Career and Technical Education students. The new hydroponic greenhouse is expected to produce nearly 3.7 million pounds of leafy greens for distribution in the mid-Atlantic during its first three years of full production. Hydroponics place the roots of a plant in liquid nutrient solutions rather than in soil.
More Richmond businesses are left repairing damages from demonstrators in Richmond after police say things turned violent last night during a riot with dozens of people in downtown. Windows were busted at the buildings for SunTrust, Wells Fargo and the John Marshall Courthouse. NBC12 reports vandals also sprayed graffiti on several buildings. Four people have been chargeed with rioting.
An Illinois woman who spent years looking for a four-leaf clover recently found a six-leaf clover in her backyard. The 60-year-old woman wondered how much luck a six-leaf clover brings, so a newspaper in Michigan did some research and learned the leaves of a four-leaf clover represent faith, hope, love, and luck, while a fifth leaf means money and a six spells long life.
