The lights are back on after thousands lost power in Petersburg. Dominion Energy reported over five thousand outages last night. There's no word on what caused the outage. The company tells 8News, it's investigating.
Southwest Airlines is wasting no time in trying to land one of five new round-trip flights approved for Reagan National by the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2024. The airline has applied with the U.S. DOT for daily nonstop flights to Las Vegas. One other airline offers a single daily flight between DC and Sin City, and Southwest says it will not only fill a need but also offer significantly lower fares. It's unclear how long it'll take for the Feds to make a decision on the airline's application.
Memorial Day means for some Virginians outdoor grilling and barbeques. The USDA has some safety tips for you.Preview: The city of Hampton is offering free swim days for four neighborhood pools. The pools will be open for free this summer on certain days. It's possible though a grant by the Hampton Neighborhood Commission. The opening kicks off this weekend over the Memorial Day holiday. The pools participating include the Elizabeth Lake Estates Pool, the Riverdale Pool, Willow Oaks Pool, and Wythe Pool. The next free days will take place the week of June 11-16th.
