Drivers should be aware of some possible flooding this morning. The National Weather Service had a Flood Advisory in effect overnight for Richmond, Henrico and Chesterfield counties. Up to two inches of rain were expected overnight, and there may be minor flooding in low-lying areas. The NWS warns that most flood deaths occur in vehicles, so when encountering flooded roads, turn around, don't drown.
Plans are in place to ensure Henrico County students have a safe graduation experience. This month's ceremonies will be held at the Henrico Sports and Events Center for the first time. Officials yesterday discussed security plans for the events. They say there will be a multi-layered security plan involving plenty of police officers and metal detectors. CBS 6 reports police will also be on hand to direct traffic.
More college graduates are applying for jobs with the federal government. A new survey by the campus recruitment website Handshake shows that DC is the second-most popular destination for recent graduates, right behind New York City. The website asked nearly 27-hundred students from more than 600 colleges about their career plans in the March survey. The website noted that computer science and technology majors are seeking more security after graduation and are applying for jobs with the government rather than taking positions in the more volatile tech sector.
