More Chesterfield County residents could qualify for tax relief. The Board of Supervisors yesterday approved some changes to the real estate tax relief program. Now, those with up to ten acres and 500-thousand dollars in net worth can qualify. Also, the law that capped relief at three thousand dollars has been lifted. 8News reports the changes will take effect in January.
Congress will allow more flights at Ronald Reagan National Airport despite opposition from area lawmakers. The House gave final approval to an FAA reauthorization bill yesterday. A portion of the bill will allow five additional round-trip flights at the airport. The new destinations will be selected after President Biden signs the bill into law.
Inflation was down slightly in April. Consumer prices were up three-point-four percent for the previous 12 months, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The cost of gas and housing accounted for more than 70 percent of the monthly inflation numbers.
