Two teens are dead after a weekend crash in Arlington. Police say a BMW traveling ran into a Lexus near the Pentagon on Saturday night. The BMW hit a concrete barrier near the intersection of Route 110 and Washington Boulevard, sending three teens to the hospital. Two of the teens died, while the third was in critical condition yesterday. Police believe speed may have played a role in the crash.
Georgia Pacific is planning the permanent closure of its Emporia plywood plant. One employee tells CBS6 he has been impacted by this closure and the closure of the Boars Head plant.Preview: The company announced Friday that it has halted all operations at the plant due to a reduction in homebuilding that has affected its plywood business. More than 550 employees worked at the plant, and the company says they will receive at least 60 days of pay and benefits. Elected leaders say they will work with state and local agencies to assist the affected workers.
Chesterfield County is giving residents a chance to shape the future of one of its busiest roads. The county is hosting a public open house meeting tomorrow to discuss the Northern Route 10 Corridor Plan. The plan covers about three-and-a-half miles of the road from Route 288 to Rock Spring Drive and Lakemere Drive. The county hopes the meeting will provide an opportunity to ensure development recommendations stay ahead of the curve rather than behind it. Tomorrow's meeting runs from 4:30 to 6:30 at the Beulah Recreation Center on Hopkins Road.
The REAL ID deadline is Wednesday. The Trump administration says all states will need to comply by the May 7th deadline. REAL ID is an enhanced security driver's license that will be needed to board any domestic airline flight in lieu of a passport. Some states are complaining of long lines at the DMV.
