A Front Royal woman, who is the former executive director of the Economic Development Authority of Front Royal and Warren County, will spend more than a dozen years behind bars.Preview: Swim advisories have been issued for some Virginia beaches. A swimming advisory has been issued for Buckroe Pier (South) in Hampton due to unsafe bacteria levels. A swimming advisory has been issued for 5th Bay and Captain's Quarters Park in Norfolk also for high bacteria levels. Signs have been posted at all impacted beaches to warn the public.The advisories do not close beaches to swimmers, but rather warns of elevated risk of bacterial exposure for compromised individuals. The Virginia Department of Health is expected to take follow-up samples today for the affected beaches.
The city of Alexandria has completed its search for a new fire chief. The city manager announced yesterday that Felipe Hernandez, Junior has been appointed fire and emergency medical services chief. Hernandez has over 25 years of experience as a firefighter and retired as fire chief in Rochester, New York last year. Hernandez is the first Latino ever appointed to the position.
