Police in Alexandria are asking for help as they investigate a deadly hit-and-run crash that happened earlier this month. Seventy-year-old James Thomson was walking at the intersection of North Jordan Street and Taney Avenue on May 9th when he was hit by a vehicle. He was hospitalized after the crash and died from his injuries on Saturday. Police are still looking for information that could identify the vehicle involved and its driver.

Animal control officers confiscated the alligator from a residence in the county, according to a Facebook post by the sheriff's office. Alligators are not native to Virginia and personal ownership of such an exotic animal is illegal without a permit.
Healthy people who use fish oil supplements might be at a higher risk for heart disease and stroke. That may seem counterintuitive, as fish oil is often recommended to help people with high blood pressure and rheumatoid arthritis. But a new study published this week in the journal BMJ Medicine found that those with no cardiovascular issues that took fish oil saw higher risks of atrial fibrillation and stroke.
