Governor Youngkin is expected to take action today to veto a bill to legalize so-called skill games in Virginia. The governor's amendments to the bill were rejected by the General Assembly last month and the issue was not discussed during Monday's special session to approve the budget. Several state senators are lobbying for a deal to legalize the convenience store casino games in exchange for using any tax revenue collected for public school improvements. Lawmakers recessed Monday's special session rather than adjourning, meaning they can discuss a possible deal on the game machine measure and then return later this year to pass it.

Several airlines are already planning to apply for one of the new flights approved for Ronald Reagan National Airport. The U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill to reauthorize the FAA this week, and included in the package is approval for five additional long-distance flights from Reagan National each day. American Airlines plans to ask for permission to fly round-trip flights from DC to San Antonio, while Alaska Airlines wants to start a daily flight to San Diego. Southwest Airlines also announced plans for a new daily flight from the airport, though they did not specify a destination.
