Governor Ralph Northam is speaking up about the state's lawsuit against the Environmental Protection Agency. Virginia joined Maryland and D.C. in the suit that says the agency failed to enforce terms of the Chesapeake Bay Watershed Agreement. Northam said in part, "not all states are living up to that commitment, and the EPA is just standing by."
Virginia residents will have a familiar lawmaker running for Governor. Lieutenant Governor Justin Fairfax has announced his bid to replace his boss. Fairfax will hold his first campaign events this week. The lieutenant governor has faced two allegations of sexual assault in his past, that he has denied. Virginians will cast their ballots for Governor next year.
Direct West Coast flights are finally coming to Richmond International Airport. Jet Blue announced yesterday it will begin flying to Los Angeles and Las Vegas in mid-December, with an additional flight to Tampa as well. It's been years in the making for Richmond to bring in a cross-country flight, as Denver was previously the farthest west out of Richmond International.
