Collective bargaining may not bring the education changes some are hoping for. That's what Richmond School Board Vice Chair Jonathan Young says about the board's vote this week to allow teachers to collectively bargain their contracts. The head of the teacher's union says this will benefit teachers and students, but Young, who was the only member to vote against the proposal, isn't as optimistic. He tells CBS6, collective bargaining is about attorneys and contract negotiations, and if anyone thinks that's what's going to move the needle in Richmond Public Schools, they'll soon find out that's not the case.
