The number of confirmed cases of coronavirus in Virginia is 67. That number includes two deaths within the last week as Virginia is under a state of emergency. Governor Ralph Northam is requiring businesses to follow federal guidelines that limits crowds to fewer than ten people. Public schools in the state are closed to protect students and staff from the spread of coronavirus.
The Virginia Hospital Center is opening a temporary testing site for COVID-19. The testing site will be at 1429 N. Quincy Street in Arlington beginning this morning. The hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays. To be tested patients must have symptoms and must remain in their cars at the facility.
RPS is offering more meal pick-up sites for students. The school district is using community centers, recreation centers and some housing management offices as alternatives to school pick-up sites. In addition, 20 Richmond schools are being used to distribute food to its students.
